AAA Governing Body Makes Classification Change

The Arkansas Activities Association Governing Body has passed a proposal to once again change the school classifications in all sports, excluding football. Each school district is represented at the annual meeting, which took place this week in Little Rock. The proposal will change the number of classifications from seven to six in the sports of basketball, baseball, softball, golf, track and field. According to the Arkansas Activities Association, the purpose of the proposal is to solve problems with the blended conferences and add schools to classification to assist with travel. The vote passed 141 to 68 and will take effect during the 2018-2020 classification cycle.
