Several students took part this week in the Battle of the Books competition. The contest is hosted by the DeQueen-Mena Educational Cooperative. Organizers say there is a list of 13 books that the students read throughout the year and they practice on answering questions about each book. Each grade has a list of books and they compete with other schools over the same books. Nashville Junior High School students Triston Fritts and Jacob Martin placed third. Nashville High School students Landan Stuard, Grace Campbell, Isabelle Martin and Zack Williams placed first. Umpire students Hailey Dowdy, Michael Arivett, Linda Zaragoza and Savannah Henegar all placed second.
