Campus Carry Bill Signed into Law

Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson has signed House Bill 1249 into law, the Campus Carry Bill allows people to carry concealed weapons on college campuses, bars, and other public places.  Hutchinson on Wednesday said the measure allows someone to carry concealed guns at the new locations if they undergo up to eight hours of active-shooter training.

The measure originally was intended to only allow faculty and staff to carry concealed handguns at college campuses, however has undergone several changes.  The law also allows concealed guns at private establishments like bars, restaurants and places of worship.  Concealed handguns are still banned at locations that have weapons prohibitions posted and K-12 schools, courtrooms and prisons.
