Pike County Quorum Court approves 2021 county budget

Pike County’s proposed 2021 budget was adopted Monday night during the November quorum court meeting. Next year’s budget will include a four percent pay raise for all full time county employees. J.P.’s also voted to put a $550 cap per employee on paid health insurance premiums, requiring the remaining premium to be paid by each employee. Next year’s budget also includes the purchase of two sheriff’s patrol units a transfer of $2,500 dollars from county general to the library fund, and the transfer of $5,391 dollars from county general to the reappraisal fund. J.P.’s approved the budget on a nine to nothing vote.
In other business, the quorum court voted to levy the taxes for this year that will be collected in 2021. A representative of McKinstry Industries gave a presentation on solar panel project similar to the one in place for Howard County. J.P.’s said they’d like to do more research on the project before giving approval.
