Greetings from Crater of Diamonds State Park! Fall is finally here. Temperatures are cooler, and leaves are already turning brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow. It’s a great time to go outside, but the sight of trash in our parks and natural areas can often ruin a fun experience.
To help restore the beauty of the outdoors and create fond memories for our visitors, on Saturday, October 14, Crater of Diamonds State Park will host the 10th Annual Great Crater Cleanup, in conjunction with the fall Great Arkansas Cleanup campaign. During the afternoon, volunteers will help pick up trash from the park’s 37.5-acre diamond search area.
Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m., in the park visitor center. Gloves and trash bags will be provided, and Great Arkansas Cleanup t-shirts will be given away while supplies last. After the cleanup, all volunteers are invited to meet in the visitor center theater for refreshments and a prize drawing.
Attendees should dress for outside work, wear sturdy shoes or boots, and bring drinking water. For more information, contact Crater of Diamonds State Park at (870) 285-3113 or CraterofDiamonds@Arkansas.com. Do your part to help the Crater shine like a diamond during the 10th Annual Great Crater Cleanup!
