A Taste of Winter Weather

Southwest Arkansas had its first taste of winter weather of this season over the weekend. A sharp cold front moved through before sunrise Saturday, causing temperatures to drop during the day. With winter weather advisories in place, light frozen precipitation began in Nashville around 1:30 Saturday afternoon & became a several hour period of all snow. The official measurement taken at the radio station for the National Weather Service indicated the city picked up just under one inch of snowfall. The National Weather Service in Shreveport says the heavier snowfall amounts in Howard County were generally north of Highway 70, where 2 to 3 inches of snow was recorded. Amounts greater than 3 inches were noted in the Broken Bow, Oklahoma area.
