Hempstead County Man in Critical Condition Following Stabbing

A Hempstead County resident is listed in critical condition at a Texarkana Hospital following a stabbing incident that occurred on Sunday, February 11th. Deputies responded around 4 a.m. to 700 Hempstead 40 West and took 43 year old Melanie Jackson into custody. Deputy Orlando Dennis said that Jackson had stated that her husband woke her up, cussing at her. She said she started looking for her keys to leave and that Tony Jackson pushed her. According to the report, Jackson then grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen sink and stabbed Tony on the left side of his face. Pafford EMS advised that he was unable to talk due to the injury he sustained and was transported to a Texarkana hospital. Melanie Jackson has been charged with second degree Domestic Battery and is awaiting a first court appearance.
