The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office has received a $1000 grant from the Blue and You Foundation. Sheriff James Singleton says the funds will be used to purchase an automated external defibrillator for the Sheriff’s Office. The AED device will be assigned to a deputy to carry in their vehicle. Hempstead County currently has eight AED’s assigned with deputies on patrol, who are trained to use them in case of a cardiac event. Sheriff Singleton says his goal is to have one in every police vehicle, the command post, dive team trailer and with the search and rescue humvee. Each AED costs approximately $1300. Singleton would like to thank the Blue and You Foundation for its commitment to assisting law enforcement and first responders.
