A high speed pursuit Tuesday in Howard County has led to the arrest of Texarkana man. Authorities say 21 year old William Stuart was arrested on felony fleeing charges. Howard County Chief Deputy John Eric Glidewell said the pursuit began when deputy Timmy Floyd observed a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit on Highway 355. Deputy Floyd said he recorded the vehicle, driven by Stuart, traveling at 76 miles per hour. Reports say the deputy activated his blue lights in an attempt to catch up to the vehicle….but Stuart refused to stop. During the pursuit, speeds exceeded 130 miles per hour and authorities said Stuart’s vehicle was passing motorists on a double yellow line on multiple occasions…meeting oncoming traffic in their lane. The pursuit lasted approximately 14 miles and ended when Stuart lost control of his vehicle in a curve and wrecked. He was transported from the accident scene to the Howard County Jail.
