Nashville man arrested for drug possession

On August 2nd, Nashville Patrol Officer David Shelby made contact with an individual, 61-year-old Johnny Ray Manning of Nashville, who was walking south on 7th street. According to the affidavit, Manning told officers that he was headed to his home that was located on Gaines Street in Nashville and that he lived there for three months. It was also reported that Manning allegedly told Officer Shelby that he was a registered sex offender. While Shelby reportedly ran a check on Manning, Shelby noticed Manning walking to the passenger side of his patrol unit and put two bottles of Seagram’s gin on the ground next to Shelby’s patrol unit.

Officers also reported that Manning was holding a lighter and a portion of metal which had been fashioned into a smoke pipe. Officer Shelby then reportedly located a small amount of suspected marijuana in Manning’s right hand and a black bag under the edge of his patrol vehicle that also contained two bags of suspected marijuana.

Manning was arrested and transported to the Howard County Detention Facility. Manning was charged with possession of a schedule VI-controlled substance, possession of Drug paraphernalia, and failure to comply with sex offender registration.
