HMH Board Considers Expanding Therapy Services

Members of the Howard Memorial Hospital Board were informed the hospital received ‘very good’ patient satisfaction marks on their patient surveys.

CFO, Bill Craig reported outpatient visits rebounded during the month of July, however, emergency department visits are still down.

Craig said the stimulus monies that the hospital has received, changed the complexion of the hospital’s financial statement. He said those funds have helped keep the hospital operating and safe.

CEO, Debra Wright reported HMH changed its return to work policy concerning employees who have been off due to COVID-19 quarantine from 14-days to 10-days per the CDC’s recommendations.

Wright also mentioned the hospital was considering leasing the old Flex Gym building on South Fourth Street. She said they hope to expand their rehab therapy services. Wright said this was part of their Plan B to expand services.

Wright said they are also researching a hydrogen-peroxide disinfectant system, which would work through the building HVAC system.
