Mineral Springs City Council Discusses 2018 Budget

The Mineral Springs City Council met Monday and discussed preliminary information on next year’s city budget. Mayor Bobby Tullis explains there will be no fee increases.

“We presented budget numbers to the council so that they will have time to look at it. A budget meeting will be held next Monday at town hall at 5 p.m. There will be no tax or fee increases for 2018. We are keeping the property tax millage at 3.9, where it is currently.”

The only other agenda item included discussion on the cemetery CD. The council accepted Mayor Tullis’ recommendation on taking out a one year CD and two year CD in the amounts of $8000 and and a three year CD in the amount of $74,000 at a 1.8 percent interest. The account was previously managed for over twenty years by the local Lions club.
