The Mineral Springs School Board approved restructuring the ACT Prep Program administered by Fetterman & Associates, during a meeting on Monday.
The high school’s recent ACT Boot Camp, held last Saturday, had 43 students participate. The program started this school year and has already seen success. Additional tutoring will now be offered during the week for both high school and elementary students in an effort to raise ACT scores. Counselor Jeanette Lampkins says the goal is to at least have students scoring a composite 19 on the exam. The next ACT exam will be offered on October 28th and the deadline to signup is September 22nd. The board approved restructuring the program at a total cost of $124,000 which should be funded with School Improvement Grant funding later this school year.
Students Devin Greenlee, Braden Williams and Ray Hawkins Jr reported to board with information about the boot camp and attending the recent HSU Reddie Day.
In other business, the 2017-2018 salary schedule was approved with a three percent raise.
Following an hour long executive session, the board approved the following motions: increase Rebecca Lowe’s pay to 210 days for GT Coordinator and for two conference periods a week. Hired Nikita Hopkins, concession stand worker. Hired Sandra Harris, long term substitute and hired Kathy Keels ABC Para-Professional.
