Murfreesboro Chamber Finalizing Plans for Diamonds in the Fall

The Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce is finalizing the schedule for the Diamonds in the Fall Festival to be held on the Square on Saturday, October 28th. The festival will begin at 10:00 A. M. with a variety of food and craft vendors.  A cakewalk sponsored by the Senior Citizens Center will begin also at 10:00.

Music and variety will be on the outdoor stage most of the day beginning at
11:00 with Allie Heaston
11:45 – Ethan Kuntz
12:30 – B-Positive – a Christian Band from Glenwood
2:30 – Kids Unlimited Dance Group
4:00 – Kids Unlimited Dance Group
5:30 – Bear Creek Boys

All kinds of games and contests will be going on during the day including small carnival rides for the kids and a bucking bull ride. Face painting and bounce houses will be available also. Lots of vendors to cater to all tastes including purses and soaps and jewelry. Rusty Relics will be on hand with their antique tractors.

Food enthusiasts will be glad that there will be corndogs and funnel cakes. The CADC center will have cornbread and pinto beans. Chili cooking contest will be underway beginning at 8:00 and the contestants will be selling their chili at 12:00. The one that sells the most chili wins a $200 and a $100 prize. Pumpkin pie baking contest entries will need to bring their pies to the Pavilion by 10:00, judging starts at 11:00 and after the judging slices of pie will be for sale! A pie eating contest is scheduled for 12:30 at the pavilion. The winner of these contests will be receiving Chamber Bucks to spend at any Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce member business.  Kids can decorate a pumpkin beginning @ 1:00 near the pavilion for a fun activity.

A doggie costume contest will be held at the stage area @ 2:00 with the winner getting a baggie of doggie treats and toys.
The regular kiddie costume contest will be at 3:30 at the pavilion. This will feature four age groups and the winners will receive buckets of treats.

New to the festival this year will be a Family Fun Walk/Run that will begin at the South Pike County School and make the loop through town. The race will begin at 8:00 A.M. Preregister is $20 and $25 the day of the race. Festival t-shirts are available for preorder and will be available for sale at Em’s Café, and Trunk of Treasures on the Square. The shirts will feature the sponsors of the event on the back in the three levels, Diamond, Ruby and Emerald.  All registration forms for all events can be picked up at the Mayor’s Office in the City-County Building, On the Square Home and Floral, or Trunk of Treasures, or by calling the Chamber Office @ 870-285- 3131.
