A special committee of the Nashville City Council met Tuesday evening to review employee salaries and discuss procedures for future raises. City employees have received raises for the past seven years. Mayor Billy Ray Jones stated that he was also concerned about long term employees and setting the maximum amount that they could draw. Three city employees plan on retiring the next year and two of those positions will not be replaced, as the job description has changed. The committee was in agreement that the department heads should meet and discuss pay scales for each employee that would be linked to their job description…the same also for the department heads, with regular evaluations set in order to receive future raises.
