The Nashville School Board met in special session on Thursday and considered several construction projects and a proposed 2017-2018 budget. These items will be discussed during the board’s regular July meeting, to be held July 24th. In addition to the proposed agriculture building on the high school campus is a proposal for a new bus garage. Superintendent Doug Graham said a new state law effective June 30th of 2018 will limit the amount of funds that a school district can maintain. The net legal balance cannot exceed twenty percent of the public school district’s current year net legal balance revenues. Graham said some funding would be placed in the district’s building fund to meet this requirement.
The board accepted a proposal from the Dwight Jones Agency for the district’s catastrophic accident insurance, which includes any school supervised activity not covered by the Arkansas Activities Association plan.
Board members accepted the resignation of junior high teacher Wade Matlock. Hirings including Jared Jones- 7th Grade Science, Linda Stiver- Junior High Math, Stephanie Hendry- Junior High Nurse and Elizabeth Green- Senior High Nurse.
