NHS Graduate Helping to Develop New Water Treatment Process

Nashville High School continues to offer high standards in education and many students advance to higher education and successful careers. Edith Martinez-Guerra is a 2007 graduate of NHS and is now an environmental engineer at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She recently spoke to a group of Advanced Chemistry students about engineering and the importance of science. Edith says she moved to Nashville barely knowing any of the English language and thanks to the staff at NHS was able to develop skills and pursue engineering degrees. She says working for the Corp of Engineers is her dream job and that they are working on developing new technology water treatment processes.

Edith encourages students to work on maintaining a high GPA, to look for internships and get a good ACT score.
