Mineral Springs School Board approves new safety bid

Monday night the Mineral Springs School Board held their regular monthly meeting. 

According to the building principals report, High School Principal JonDavid Amerson stated that enrollment has gone up since last year from 178 to 191 students. Amerson also stated that 76% percent of the students in grades 7th through 12th improved their reading scores and that the graduation rate this year is 97%.  Also, according to his report the High School has a D letter grade. 

Mineral Springs Elementary Principal Ruby Dean stated that they are presenting new math to students. Dean said that she’s thinking about doing incentives for attendance that will get students more excited about being at school. According to her Report the Elementary School has an F letter grade. Dean and Amerson stated that they both will be traveling to the Dequeen Mena Education Service Cooperative this week to have a breakdown of those letter grades.   

In conclusion, Board members approved a motion to approve a new school safety bid by AAMSCO in the amount of $30,634.51. All were in favor of the motion.
