A supposed victim of a car theft has been arrested for filing a false police report. Twenty three year old Ryan Stinson of Nashville had told deputies early last week that his vehicle had been stolen after the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department advised him that it had been involved in an accident. Stinson stated that he had not given permission to Brandon Elkins or Jake Ganous to use the vehicle and the two were arrested for a theft of property charge. Investigator Dorman and Crane continued the investigation and was able to determine that Stinson had filed a false report of his vehicle being stolen. Both Elkins and Ganous were released. Stinson was taken into custody on Thursday and arrested for a class D felony of filing a False Report to Law Enforcement Officers.
