19th Annual Ralph Gross Memorial Baseball Tournament
The 19th annual Ralph Gross Memorial Baseball Tournament was held this past weekend at Wilson Park.
Tournament organizer Jeff Gross was in attendance and spoke with Nashville’s Johnny Wilson about the event that honors his late father Ralph Gross.
In the first round, Star City defeated Redwater, Texas 17 to3. Game 2 was won 8 to 7 by Magnolia in extra innings against Prairie Grove. Camden Harmony Grove defeated Prairie Grove junior varsity team 15 to 3 and the Nashville Scrappers advanced to the semi-finals with a 4 to 2 victory over Mayflower.
Saturday, Redwater, Texas defeated the junior varsity team from Prairie Grove 7-3, Prairie Grove defeated Mayflower 9 to 6 in the loser’s bracket. In the winner’s bracket, Magnolia defeated Star City 15 to 4 and Camden Harmony Grove defeated the Scrappers 6 to 4.
Gross stated the proceeds from the annual baseball camp and tournament are used to fund a scholarship for a student-athlete from Nashville High School.
Gross also presented an award to the tournament MVP and all-tournament team members at the conclusion of the tournament.
