2 Scrappers Sign Intent to Play for Arkansas Tech
Two Nashville High School athletes signed college letters of intent during a ceremony Wednesday morning. Scrapperette golfer Ellen Spigner has signed to become a member of the Arkansas Tech University Gold Suns golfing team….while Scrapper baseball player Garrett Willard signed a letter of intent to play baseball, also at Arkansas Tech in Russellville.
In her high school career, Spigner participated in 48 individual matches & won 40 of those. The Scrapperette team finished with a record of 38 wins 5 losses & one tie over the past four seasons. Coach Aaron Worthen said all five of those losses came against teams who eventually won state championships. The Scrapperettes also won a state 4A golfing championship during Spigner’s career.
Worthen says Arkansas Tech is getting a golfer who is already able to compete at the college level:
For Garrett Willard, he has already competed in 77 Scrapper games 7 finished last season with a pitching record of 7 & 1. Willard also was a .300 hitter at the plate for the Scrappers. Caoch Kyle Slayton says Willard should provide Arkansas Tech will a lot of innings pitched in his college career:
