Ernest named head football coach for the Outlaws

Tuesday, the Dierks School Board voted unanimously to hire Paul Ernest to be the next head football coach, head baseball coach and athletic director for the Outlaws.

Superintendent Jody Cowart said the district received 13 applicants and they interviewed seven.

Ernest was an assistant football and baseball at Horatio for one-year. The head football and assistant baseball coach at Horatio from 2001 to 2010. He was an assistant football coach, assistant baseball coach and head softball coach at Nashville. He was the head football coach for five-years in Gentry and at Mineral Springs for the past two years.

Ernest will replace Jarrod Fannin who left the Dierks School District to be the head football coach and assistant athletic director in the De Queen School District.
