Howard County Court
Howard County Court met this week with 43 YO Cory Carter of Dierks in attendance. Carter is being charged with 1 Class B Misdemeanor of reckless driving and 1 class D felony of Aggravated Assault. Facts constituting reasonable cause are as follows:
On June 1st, 2021, Eldy Richardson called Howard County SHeriff’s Office in reference to an incident that occured on Hwy 278. Richardson stated he was driving past Carter’s chicken farm and honked the horn of his semi at them. Richardson stated he had been having problems with Carter, and honked his horn to be friendly. Carter then got in his truck and passed him on Hwy 278, then stopped blocking the road forcing Richardson to come to a stop. He stated Carter got out of his vehicle and pointed a rifle at him. Carter then got back in his vehicle, drove ahead of Richardson and then stopped on the side of the road and stood outside his vehicle pointing his rifle at Richardson as he drove by. Richardson’s semi was equipped with a camera of which the video was turned over to law enforcement for review. Deputy Trent Coffman alongside Chief Deputy Joey Davis reviewed the footage and confirmed Richardson’s story. Carter has plead not guilty and has a pretrial date set for 9/29 with a Jury trial set for 10/26
