Burn Ban in effect for Howard and Hempstead counties

A burn ban is now in effect in Howard County and Hempstead counties. Below normal rainfall totals the past five months have resulted in unusually dry conditions for this time of year. Several area fire departments have been responding to out of control fires today. As a result, a burn ban has been issued for Howard and Hempsetad counties until further notice.
