Vote Pike County AR Wet Committee submits 2,345 signatures
The Vote Pike County AR Wet Committee submitted 2,345 petitions to the Pike County Clerk’s office by noon on Wednesday. The committee needs 2,195 valid signatures to put the issue on the November ballot.
An official with the Pike County Clerk’s office reported their office will have 10 days to verify the signatures as registered voters of Pike County. She said after all of the signatures have been verified, if the number falls under the needed threshold, the Vote Pike County AR Wet Committee will have 10 additional days to gather the needed signatures.
Other races of interest in Pike County this November will include a three-man race for the position of mayor in Murfreesboro. The three candidates are Jack Bonds, Jim O’Neal and Randy “Flick” Hignight. There will also be a contested race for the North Ward Position 2 on the Murfreesboro City Council between Kirk Stone and Lance Bridgeman.
The only other contested race in Pike County is for the mayor’s position in Glenwood. The two candidates are John Powell and B.T. Smith.
