Mineral Springs resident charged with first degree murder, sentenced to 30 years in Arkansas Department of Corrections

Devalin Wiseman of Mineral Springs was convicted Tuesday afternoon of murder in the first degree and sentenced to 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections in the death of his son, 3-year-old Kingston Wiseman. Wiseman was charged with murder in the first degree which is a Class Y felony and punishable up to 40 years.

The jury was dismissed to deliberate at 12:20pm. They came back with a verdict at 1:38pm of guilty of murder in the first degree. They were then sent out to determine the sentencing at 1:47pm. The jury turned at 2:13pm with a sentence of 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

A jury of eight women and four men heard testimony from witnesses and watched the video interview of Wiseman at the Howard County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning before receiving jury instructions from Howard County Circuit Court Judge Bryan Chesshir.

The case was prosecuted by Howard County Deputy Prosecutor Aaron Brasel.
