Election results from Howard County
Residents of the city of Nashville elected Nashville Public Works Director Larry Dunaway as the new mayor by a vote of 585 for Dunaway and 381 for Don White.
Dunaway stopped by the B 99.5 studios after the election results were announced and thanked the citizens of Nashville for the opportunity to serve as their next mayor.
In other local races, Howard County Sheriff/Collector Bryan McJunkins was re-elected by the residents of Howard County. McJunkins received 2,517 votes to Jackie Thomas’ 1,121 votes.
Bobby Tullis was elected mayor of the city of Mineral Springs. Tullis received 133 votes to Chad Lances 123 votes and Vanessa Hendrix was re-elected to the position of Ward 3, Position 1 alderman for the city of Mineral Springs.
The State Representative District 87 race was won by incumbent DeAnn Vaught. Vaught received 339 votes, while Chris Wolcott received 23 and Marc Rosson received 11. The city of Dierks is represented by Vaught.
Howard County is a part of District 4 in the State Senate and Howard County voters elected Jimmy Hickey Jr. with 2,637 votes. Independent candidate Lonny Goodwin received 884 votes.
In statewide races, Howard County votes elected Sarah Huckabee Sanders as Governor, Leslie Rutledge as Lt. Governor, John Thurston as Secretary of State, Tim Griffin as Attorney General, Dennis Milligan as Auditor of the State, Tommy Land for Commissioner of State Lands and Mark Lowery as State Treasurer.
On the four issues that were on the ballot, Howard County voters voted against Issue 1, against Issue 2, for Issue 3 and against Issue 4.
