Mineral Springs hires new Defensive Coordinator Coach

Board Members of the Mineral Springs School Board held their regular monthly meeting Monday.

Board Members approved to accept and rehire the certified teachers for the upcoming school year and to accept the proposed budget for July 2024 to June2025. Board members also approved two resignations, three retirees, and hiring Jared Jackson as Defensive Coordinator and William Dixon III as a Math teacher.

Business Manager Frankie Tollett provided the financial report for the month of February 2023. Tollett stated that the school district had a legal balance, not including their CD, in the amount of $1,648,215.79. The legal balance including their CD was $1,715,490.04. The all fund balance was $5,145,475.13. There was a motion made by Board Members: Shelia Jackson and seconded by Barnado Thomas for the approval of the Financial Statement.

There was a motion made by Board Members Barnado Thomas and seconded by Shelia Jackson to approve setting up the Sunshine Account which would be funds set aside to assist students and teachers. President Dorothy Vaughn talked about why they came up with the idea of creating this account.

All were in favor of the recommendation.
