Dierks School District gearing up for LEARNS Bill

The Dierks School Board held their regular monthly meeting last week.
According to the financial report, Business Manager Kayla Jones stated the state and district operating balance is down $133,175.32. Teacher salaries are up $10,773.60 from this time last year, and expenditures are up $24,935.99. Revenue is up $40,219.65, food service is up $13,203.32, and the remaining balance of the bond funds is $5,780.81.

Superintendent Grover Hill discussed that there will be a hold on contracts until Sarah Huckabee’s LEARNS bill is complete. Hill did mention that even though the new bill is in process no one’s job is in jeopardy. Hill even stated that the salary schedule will have to be redesigned due to the new bill that’s in the process of being passed.

The board passed a motion to approve the Ready for Learning plan which means the Dierks Public Schools will follow the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and the Arkansas Ready for learning report issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the planning and operations of the district. The goal is to provide as safe an experience as possible that includes a rich educational experience, with opportunities for social interaction and extracurricular activities while adhering to guidelines provided by the Arkansas Department of Health.
