Nashville City Council approves permit ordinance

Monday, during the Nashville City Council’s regular monthly meeting, Chief of Police Amy Marion provided an update on the status of the suspects that were involved in the burglaries that took place earlier this month.

Code Enforcement Officer David Riggs presented two ordinances to the council. The first one states that every person, firm, or corporation who operates a temporary mobile business within the towns/cities of Arkansas, operating for a short, limited period of time in Nashville for the purpose of marketing sales, goods, wares, services, entertainment, food, beverages, or anything of value, shall obtain a transient license from the city of Nashville prior to operation. This was to protect the citizens of Nashville from consumer frauds. The price for the transient license would be $150 for an operation period of one to seven days or at a cost of $250 for an operation period of eight to 30 days of operation within the city limits of Nashville. There was a motion made by aldermen Joe Hoen and seconded by Kathy Combs to approve the first ordinance.

The second ordinance was in regard to regulating the vending of ice cream and snow cones within the city limits of Nashville, which would provide the safety and welfare of the citizens. This ordinance would also require each ice cream/snow cone vendor soliciting in Nashville to obtain a permit and must display the permit at all times. The permit fee would be $50 and will expire one year from the date of issuance. After further discussion aldermen approved a motion to table the ordinance until next month’s meeting. All were in favor of those motions.

In conclusion, Mayor Larry Dunaway had a brief discussion about the Pafford Ambulance Service Agreement. Dunaway said his concern would be response time along with the duration of the contract. Dunaway then asked the council to look over the agreement and it would be up for discussion at the next city council meeting. There was a motion made by aldermen Will Turley and seconded by Donna Harwell to table the discussion in regard to Pafford Ambulance Service Agreement. All were in favor of the motion.
