CEO of HMH turns in letter of resignation to the Board of Directors
Yesterday, during the Howard Memorial Hospital Board of Directors regular monthly meeting, they received a letter of resignation from Chief Executive Officer Debra Wright. Wright has been working as the CEO for HMH for 14 years and she handled the overall oversight of Strategic, Clinical and Financial health of the facility. After further discussion, Board members approved a motion to accept the resignation of CEO Debra Wright. Here’s a statement from Chairman Mark Kitchens.
CFO Bill Craig provided the board with an update about the application with the American Rescue Act through a Sustainability Plan. Craig stated when their plans are accepted, they will receive 20% of the funds and there are benchmarks they would have to hit, a 6-month benchmark and a 12-month benchmark. Craig said there were two benchmarks that he picked in the plan. The first benchmark is improvement and days cash on hand and the second benchmark is improvement and operating margin. Craig said quote “they are gonna be tough goals but there’s significant funds at stake. It’s going to take the whole team to get there.”
Board members also approved a motion to add Director of I.T. Matt Stevens to the Bank Deposit Box along with the 2024 operating and capital budget and 401k match as presented. All were in favor of the motion.
In conclusion, Dr. Carla Pumphrey presented the credentialing to the board that she stated were in order and approved by medical staff. Board members approved a motion to appoint Dr Chaddwick Gaddis as MD-Emergency Services and to reappoint RN Jarrod Stokes, RN Catherine Lyons, MD-Compass Robert Strayhan, and Nurse Practitioner-Compass Shalunda Sasser that were approved by medical staff. All were in favor of the motion.
