Nashville School Board Discusses Budget, Projects, and Staff Pay During Special Meeting

On Thursday, the Nashville School Board held a special called meeting to review school finances, discuss possible upcoming projects, and go over details of the 2025–2026 district budget.
Superintendent Doug Graham presented the board with financial documents showing that as of June 30, 2025, the district ended the fiscal year with a balance of $5,556,624—having spent approximately 91 percent of last year’s budget.
Looking ahead, Graham shared key figures for the new budget year:
Local revenue is projected at $6,143,616
State revenue is expected to total $12,520,387
For a total budget of $24,220,627
With expenditures projected at $18,778,190.01, the expected ending balance is approximately $5,442,436.99
Graham also introduced several project proposals for the board to begin considering—starting with renovations to the Old High School Gym, which has an estimated cost of $77,000, based on a quote from DH Construction.
He explained the potential benefits of the gym renovation and noted that although it’s still in the planning stage, it would improve functionality and preserve a historic part of campus.
Other possible projects Graham brought to the table include:
Installing new turf at Scrapper Stadium
Replacing turf at the Scrapper Dome
Constructing a new softball field for the district
And implementing a $2 per hour raise for classified staff
Graham noted that while these initiatives are not yet finalized, the goal is to begin moving forward on them soon, depending on board approval and financial readiness.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for this evening at 5:00 p.m., where further discussion on district matters is expected.
