Chief Deputy Wayne Epperly Resigns; New Leadership Announced at Pike County Sheriff’s Office

Chief Deputy Wayne Epperly has officially announced his resignation from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office as he embarks on a new career path.

Sheriff Travis Hill praised Epperly’s years of service, describing him as a dedicated leader, a steady presence, and a true public servant to the people of Pike County. Hill noted that while the department is saddened to see him go, they are deeply grateful for his contributions and the lasting impact he has made throughout his tenure.

In the wake of Epperly’s departure, Sheriff Hill announced the promotion of Sergeant Shaun Furr to the position of Chief Deputy. With more than 20 years of dedicated service to Pike County, Chief Deputy Furr has consistently demonstrated professionalism, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to public safety.

Additional promotions were also announced within the department:

  • Brady Whisenhunt has been promoted to Sergeant
  • Troy Thomas and Brent Staggs have been promoted to Deputy
  • Jerry Lowery has been appointed as the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Centerpoint

“These individuals bring a wealth of experience, strong law enforcement backgrounds, and a shared dedication to serving the citizens of Pike County,” said Hill. “We look forward to the continued growth and leadership they will bring to our team.”
