Murfreesboro Man Charged with Domestic Battering, Terroristic Threatening

A 48-year-old Murfreesboro man has been charged with Domestic Battering in the Second Degree and Terroristic Threatening following a series of violent incidents reported to law enforcement on July 1.

According to a statement given to Chief Deputy Michael Lamb of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, a woman reported two separate incidents of domestic violence that occurred in June. She alleged that the suspect physically assaulted her multiple times, including punching, kicking, biting, and—on one occasion—striking her in the head with the butt of a gun. One incident reportedly took place at a farm on Nathan Road on June 4, and the second at a residence on South Washington Street in Murfreesboro on June 17.

Visible injuries, including bruising, swelling, and what was later confirmed as two broken ribs, were documented. The victim also provided photographic evidence of the abuse.

In a separate statement, the victim’s son alleged that the suspect forcibly entered the home on June 17, discharged a firearm inside, and made threats to harm family members and a pet. While the victims were giving statements, authorities were alerted that the suspect had left another residence with two firearms and had reportedly expressed intent to harm his family and himself.

The suspect, identified as Benjamin T. Stevens, is currently under active probation supervision and has two prior domestic battery convictions in Pike County—one misdemeanor and one felony—from 2022.

The investigation is ongoing.
