Howard Memorial Hospital Board Reviews Financials, Election of Officers

The Howard Memorial Hospital Board of Directors held their regular monthly meeting recently, focusing on leadership updates and a detailed financial report for the month ending June 30, 2025.
During the meeting, the board voted to retain the current slate of officers for another year. Mark Kitchens will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board, Julie Rhodes as Vice Chair, and Wes Howard as Secretary.
Chief Financial Officer Bill Craig presented the hospital’s June financial snapshot, reporting a net income of $39,481—falling $42,267 below budget expectations.
Highlights from the report included over $2.7 million in cash receipts for June, with outpatient visits showing a 3% favorable variance and surgical cases exceeding expectations by 15%. However, ED visits were down by 107 and collectible revenue from patient services was nearly $193,000 below budget.
Cost management was a bright spot, with total operating costs coming in $19,607 under budget. Salaries, benefits, and contract labor expenses were $69,029 below projections, while supply and other expenses also showed favorable variances.
The hospital’s share of profit from its joint venture with LHC was reported at $14,218.
The board continues to monitor financial performance closely while maintaining focus on quality care and operational efficiency.
