Concern parent creates petition to oppose hybrid calendar
Wednesday afternoon, Nashville School District superintendent Doug Graham held an invitation-only district stakeholders meeting in the Nashville Cafe at the Nashville High School to discuss the pros and cons of the proposed hybrid year-round school calendar. Concerns were expressed during the meeting, but a petition to keep the traditional school calendar for the Nashville School District was created on change.org and being circulated on Facebook.
The petition appears to have been started by a concerned parent who stated they were started the petition to oppose the proposed change to the academic calendar. The petition states that the existing academic calendar is crucial for the well-being and success of the students of the district, as well as the families and community.
The petition states the traditional calendar is designed to accommodate the needs of students and families, while providing stability, predictability and ample time for academic instruction, extracurricular activities and family bonding.
The petitioner stated they felt the current academic calendar fosters a positive learning environment, support academic achievement and promotes the well-being of students and families.
The petition urges the Nashville School Board to refrain from making any changes to the existing academic calendar.
