Kirby man arrested for felony fleeing

On November 20th, 2023, around 6:55pm Pike County Deputy Chris Gates attempted to stop a black Chevrolet Avalanche on Hwy 70 east of Daisy for speeding 77 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. According to the affidavit, when Gates activated his blue lights and was in the midst of turning around, he heard the vehicle’s exhaust rev up as if the driver was speeding up.

Gates then reportedly advised dispatch that he had one running and gave them probable cause for the stop. Police reported that the vehicle was heading west, and the pursuit reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour. It was also reported that Gates was able to keep the vehicle in sight but when the vehicle reached New Hope, the driver turned off the lights and turned onto Coffman Road.

As reported Gates went down Coffman Road and about a quarter of a mile down the vehicle was wrecked out but no one was in the vehicle. Gates was later assisted by Drug Task Force Agent Jones with his Forward-Looking Infrared Drone and suspect 36 year old Christopher Partee of Kirby was located just minutes after drone deployment. Partee was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers reported that they found clear baggies and a glass smoking pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue inside of it. Partee was taken to Howard Memorial Hospital and treated for his injuries. Partee was charged with felony fleeing, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding more than fifteen miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
