Dierks School Board votes to extend Superintendent’s contract

Wednesday, the Dierks School Board held their regular monthly meeting. 
During the meeting, Curriculum Coordinator Crystal Smith informed the board on what’s been going on at the Dierks High School. Smith reported that the current enrollment is 235 students. Smith also talked about the Community Service Plan and how they incorporated activities throughout the school that will allow students to get credit.

Smith stated that they had a lot of testing in the last few weeks. Smith reported that they had 24 students take and pass the Arkansas Civics Exam this semester and they also had 22 students in their Outdoor Pursuits class.

Before concluding with her report, Smith said they had 15 students who earned their Career Readiness Certificate this semester through their Career and College Readiness class along with explaining what CRC is.

In conclusion, a motion was made by board member Jeffrey Mounts and seconded by Laykon Graham to add an additional year to Superintendent Grover Hill’s contract, ending June 30th, 2026. Another motion was made by Justin Simmons and seconded by Kara Tedford to correct an action from October 23, 2023, regarding Crystal Smith’s contract starting October 10th, not October 16th as originally stated.
