UA Cossatot Celebrates 50 Years of Growth and Service

Madelyn Jones, Director of Foundation and Advancement at UA Cossatot, was the guest speaker at this week’s Rotary Club meeting, where she shared insights into the college’s growth and development over the years.

Jones explained that UA Cossatot was founded in 1975 as a vocational-technical school in De Queen, serving approximately 200 students. Today, the college is a proud member of the University of Arkansas System and has grown to serve around 1,600 students pursuing vocational certificates and associate degrees.

As part of her presentation, Jones announced that UA Cossatot is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a weeklong series of events scheduled for September 3 through September 6. Each day will highlight a different focus:

  • Wednesday, September 3: Celebrating UA Cossatot’s Progress
  • Thursday, September 4: Celebrating Students
  • Friday, September 5: Celebrating Employees
  • Saturday, September 6: Celebrating the Community

Jones also encouraged community members to support the UA Cossatot Foundation by making a commemorative donation ranging from $19.75 to $1,975. These contributions will go toward the Foundation’s General Unrestricted Fund, which provides critical support for students facing emerging needs.
