Howard County Quorum Court Approves Funds for Search and Rescue Drones

The Howard County Quorum Court held their regular monthly meeting yesterday, where a key presentation was made by Sheriff Bryan McJunkins regarding the county’s Search and Rescue Team.
Sheriff McJunkins then addressed the court about the technology used by the Task Force, specifically highlighting the role of drones in search and rescue operations.
McJunkins told the court that the department is in need of two drones. One of the drones would cost approximately $13,639, and there would also be an added cost for training five pilots to operate them. He noted that the City of Nashville has already agreed to pay for one of the drones.
After further discussion, the quorum court voted to approve $25,000 from the county’s contingency fund to cover the cost of the second drone and the necessary training for the Search and Rescue Team.
Sheriff McJunkins emphasized that the new equipment would be “a great asset and life saving” for future emergency response efforts.
