Boil orders have been issued for several water departments in the surrounding area.

UPDATE: Boil water order for the Dierks Water Department has been lifted as of Wednesday, January 31st.

Dierks Mayor Ronnie Cogburn reported a boil order had been issued for the Old 70 North area in Dierks on Thursday morning, January 18. He said the boil order would be in effect until further notice. Cogburn reported the city lost power to the pump station on Old 70 North. Residents north of Herman Avenue and in the Old 70 North area are being affected by the boil order.

Residents on the North Pike County Rural Water Association are under a boil from a water line break on Wednesday, January 17. North Pike County Rural Water Association customers living west of Highway 70 between Glenwood and Kirby, including Highway 27 South on both sides of the roads.

The Glenwood Water Department issued a boil order following a water line break on Wednesday, January 17 for the entire system.

Customers in these effected areas should observe the boil order notice until the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) determines that the water is safe.

Customers should observe the boil water order until bacteriological samples show the water to be safe. This may take several days. Under the ‘Boil Water’ Notice, all affected customers are advised that the water is considered unsafe for human consumption, and water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.

This Notice will be lifted by ADH when two sets of bacteriological samples indicate that the water is free of bacterial contamination and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
