Early Morning Fire Damages Gentry Chevrolet Dealership Near De Queen

An early morning fire on Wednesday partially destroyed the Gentry Chevrolet dealership located just east of De Queen. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

It was reported that the De Queen Fire Department responded to the blaze around 4:30 a.m. after flames broke out in the dealership’s service department. Thanks to a firewall within the building, firefighters were able to contain the fire and prevent it from reaching the showroom and nearby office spaces.

Despite their efforts, the service area and several vehicles were lost before the fire was brought under control shortly before 9 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Assisting at the scene were the Horatio and Cossatot Volunteer Fire Departments, along with the Sevier County Road Department, which provided a tanker truck to support firefighting efforts.

De Queen Fire Marshal Dennis Pruitt commended the swift and determined response from all crews involved.

Pruitt added that the investigation remains active and a full damage assessment is still in progress.
