Junior Scrappers Show Grit in First Loss of the Season, Fall Just Short to Bauxite

The Nashville Junior Scrappers delivered a strong performance Thursday night but came up just short in a nail-biter against the Bauxite Junior Miners, falling 22-21 in their first loss of the season.

The Junior Scrappers, who entered the game undefeated, gave fans plenty to cheer about with a comeback effort that nearly sealed another victory. Bauxite led 8-7 at halftime, but Nashville controlled most of the second half with key scoring drives and tough defense.

In the third quarter, Quarterback Mack Arnold found the end zone for six, followed by a two-point conversion by Running Back Jakari Starr, giving the Scrappers a 15-8 advantage.

Then, early in the fourth quarter, Starr broke through once again, extending Nashville’s lead to 21-8. However, a late-game rally by the Junior Miners allowed them to edge ahead in the final moments, sealing the win by a single point.

Despite the narrow loss, the Junior Scrappers remain in a strong position, now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

Next up, Nashville will hit the road to take on the Ashdown Junior Panthers this Thursday night.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m., and B99.5 will have live coverage of the game.
