Three Arrested, One Life Saved During Multi-Agency Drug Raid in Saratoga

A recent multi-agency drug investigation has led to the arrest of three individuals and a life-saving medical intervention during a raid in Saratoga, according to a report from law enforcement officials.

The joint operation involved several agencies, including the 8th South Drug Task Force (Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, Miller County Sheriff’s Office, and Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office), the 9th West Drug Task Force (serving Howard, Sevier, and Pike Counties), the Texas Department of Public Safety, Arkansas State Police, Ashdown Police Department, and the Howard County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the report, the investigation focused on the illegal drug trade in the Ark-La-Tex region and resulted in the arrest of Kataka Thomas, Tonya Stapleton, and Austin Hooks. All three face charges related to fentanyl trafficking, as well as the possession of firearms, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

A search warrant was executed at a residence located at 601 Chapel Hill Street in Saratoga, where authorities discovered illegal narcotics and firearms. During the search, Agent Garner of the 9th West Drug Task Force reportedly found Austin Hooks unresponsive, showing signs of a drug overdose.

The report states that Agent Garner quickly administered Narcan, a life-saving opioid overdose reversal drug, and called for emergency medical assistance. Officials credit his rapid response and training with saving Hooks’ life.

This incident underscores the ongoing danger of fentanyl and similar substances that continue to devastate communities across the region.

In a statement, authorities highlighted the seriousness of drug-related crimes and commended Agent Garner for his heroic actions and dedication to preserving life in a high-risk situation.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details may be released as the case progresses.
