Scrappers Improve to 5-0 in Conference Play

The Nashville Scrappers improved to 5 and 0 in the 7-4A conference Friday night with a 35 to 10 victory over the Haskell Harmony Grove Cardinals at Scrapper Stadium.
Nashville had 441 total yards. Sophomore quarterback Jacoby Hopson carried the ball 14 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns. DJ Jefferson had 1 carry for 89 yards and a touchdown and Bryce Perrin had eight carries for 47 yards. Hopson was 9 of 11 passing for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Karson Chambers had 2 receptions for 63 yards and 1 touchdown, while Cortez Cooper also had two receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. Abari Williams led the Scrapper defense with 11 tackles, one for a loss. And, Perrin and Hayden Gray had nine tackles each.
Nashville scored first on a fourth down play, 40 yards out by Hopson.
Following a touchdown by the Cardinals, Nashville responded with Hopson connected with Cooper for a 42 yard touchdown pass.
The Scrapper defense forced Harmony Grove to settle for a field goal. Nashville would answer with a 28 yard touchdown pass from Hopson to Chambers.
Hopson would extend the led on a 3 yard run, giving the Scrappers a 28 to 10 led.
Finally, junior quarterback DJ Jefferson came into the game and would score on his first play from scrimmage on a 89 yard run.
Nashville will travel to Malvern this Friday night to take on the Leopards. Kickoff is set for 7 pm and you can listen to the game live on B 99.5.
