NPD provides safety tips for the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse
Recently the Nashville Police Department informed the public about the upcoming total Solar Eclipse that will take place next month on April 8th across the State of Arkansas. The City of Nashville is in the path of totality. NPD said that First responders have been meeting regularly and trying to prepare for the unknown. Their goal is to keep the community safe, as well as the visitors who are coming to the area for this event. It is very possible that there could be an influx of visitors in the area during this time, and they just have no way of knowing how much of an influx. So, for safety precautions they have put together some public safety tips for the community, so you don’t get “caught in the dark.”
- • Prepare for increased traffic and an influx of visitors before, during, and after the eclipse
- • Prepare for possible internet and cell phone outages
- • Depending on the number of visitors in the area, food and gas quantities could get low
- • Get prescriptions, groceries, and gas prior to this event
- • Have cash on hand in the event there are interruptions in service
- • Schedule appointments and errands before the event, or after, to avoid any traffic impacts
- • Have emergency power supplies ready
- • Be aware that visitors that are not familiar with the area may ask for directions or assistance
- • If traveling to view the eclipse, don’t go alone
- • Always tell someone where you are going and what route you will take
- • Have a NOAA weather radio on hand for alternative weather alerts
