Nashville Officers Respond to Domestic Call, Discover Psilocybin Mushroom Operation

Nashville Police Department officers uncovered an alleged psilocybin mushroom growing operation while responding to a domestic disturbance on South Ansley Street Monday.

According to police, officers arrived at the residence and made contact with two occupants, identified as Lonnie Lunsford and Reveina George. While speaking with them, officers observed what appeared to be a psilocybin mushroom — a hallucinogenic substance classified as a Schedule I controlled drug — growing inside the home.

Investigators with the Nashville Police Department, along with agents from the Arkansas Department of Probation and Parole, the 9th West Drug Task Force, and the Arkansas State Police, were notified and responded to the scene. Agents reportedly seized various items used in the germination and cultivation of psilocybin mushrooms.

Authorities said Lunsford, a Level 3 sex offender currently on parole, and George, who had an active absconding warrant out of Miller County for a parole violation, were both taken into custody.

The pair were transported to the Howard County Jail, where they are being held on charges of manufacturing a Schedule I controlled substance (not methamphetamine or cocaine).
