Dierks High School Wins the T-Mobile 5G Friday Night Lights Contest

More than 8 million votes were cast nationwide, and Dierks High School has claimed the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights title — earning a $1 million football field transformation.

The small community of about 900 residents rallied nearly 2 million votes, fueled by a surge of social media energy and support from across Arkansas and beyond. Politicians and celebrities — including Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Attorney General Tim Griffin, former Razorback and NFL running back Darren McFadden, and comedians Larry the Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy — all joined the effort to help Dierks secure the win.

Superintendent Grover Hill told Southwest Arkansas Radio that he and the district were “overwhelmed but deeply grateful” for the outpouring of support.

More than 2,100 schools nationwide took part in the contest, celebrating community pride and small-town spirit. Dierks now joins Inola, Oklahoma, the 2024 winner, as proof that determination and teamwork can turn big dreams into reality.

Local organizer Krystal Greene said the experience was “the opportunity of a lifetime.”

T-Mobile and Dierks High School will host a community celebration on Friday, November 14.
