Nashville Scrappers Claim 7-4A Conference Championship with Victory over the Malvern Leopards

Friday night, the Nashville Scrappers claimed the 7-4A conference championship in the first year of Coach Brad Chesshir tenure with a 35 to 14 win over the Malvern Leopards.
Malvern led by scoring first in the game, but Nashville responded late in the first quarter on a 5-yard touchdown run by Jr. Bryce Perrin.
Nashville would take the lead on their first possession of the second quarter when Perrin would score his second touchdown of the game on a 2-yard run.
With 3:15 to play in the first half, Nashville would strike again on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Hopson to Cortez Cooper, giving the Scrappers a 21 to 7 lead at the half.
Malvern would cut the led to seven mid-way through the third quarter, but Nashville would score on the first play of the fourth quarter on a 14-yard run by Hopson.
With 2:25 to play with the game, Davonte Gilliam intercepted a Leopard pass and took it to the end zone for pick-6 to close out the scoring.
Nashville’s defense would make one final stop at the 3-yard line to keep the Leopards out of the end zone.
Nashville will close out the regular season Friday night on ‘The Hill’ verse Genoa Central with Senior Night. The Scrappers will be the number one seed from the 7-4A conference and will host a home playoff game on Friday, November 14.
