Candidates Begin Filing for 2026 Elections in Howard County

The filing period for the 2026 elections is underway in Howard County, and several local residents have already stepped forward to run for county, city, and school offices. Candidates have until Tuesday, November 12, to submit their paperwork.
So far, the following candidates have filed:
County Offices
- County Judge: Brent Pinkerton (Republican)
- County Clerk: Keri Teague (Republican)
- Circuit Clerk: Jana Tallant (Republican) and Alana Miller (Republican)
- Assessor: Cindy Butler
- Sheriff/Collector: Joey Davis (Republican) and Alex L. Gamble (Democrat)
Justice of the Peace
- JP District 1: Cohen Davis (Republican)
- JP District 4: Janet O’Neal (Republican)
- JP District 6: Elizabeth McDaniel (Republican)
- JP District 8: Mayor Robert Tullis (Independent)
- JP District 9: Juanita Jackson (Democrat)
City of Nashville Offices
- Mayor: Mayor Larry Dunaway (Republican)
- City Clerk: Lauren Hoen (Republican)
- Ward 4, Position 1: William Turley (Republican)
- Ward 5, Position 1: Charles Pinkston (Republican)
School District Races
- Nashville School District, Zone 4: Jerry Wilson (Independent)
- Mineral Springs School District: William Dixon (Independent)
The filing period will remain open through November 12, and additional candidates are expected to file before the deadline. A finalized list of candidates will be released once the filing period officially closes.
